Cooking Fish – What Makes Grilled Mahi Mahi Fabulously Delicious by Terry Retter
Mahi mahi is popularly delicious any manner you prepare it, but I’ve proven that grilling still renders the best grilled fish entrée. While it may be too familiar to grill fish, I’ve tested out quite a few ways to season this fish on the grill, a recipe that continues to get raves from everyone in my family, friends and relatives. Today, I can’t wait to share you how.
The Seasoning
Mahi mahi adapts well to any type of seasoning, rub, herbs and spices. You can make one done on the grill in a matter of minutes and you may use fresh, or frozen defrosted mahi mahi fillets. Since grilled is the best way to serve Mahi Mahi, whip up a quick marinade and cook the fish on the grill with some corn, lemon, ginger or avocado flavor. These flavors from the marinade create a combination that is uniquely fresh, delicious, and healthy when blended with the mahi mahi’s natural mild flavors.
Since this fish is sweet, dense, firm fish, it tastes great by itself even with simple herbs and spices or with just about any sauces, marinades or salsas, so it only makes it all the more fabulous when combined with other natural flavors. Because the flavor is so pleasing, learning how to grill mahi mahi to perfection is quite simple.
The Grilling Technique
Grill the fish on a very hot grill, but watch it carefully and turn it as needed to prevent burning. Be ready with forks and tongs to easily lift out the food from the grates. Grill the fish about 5 to 10 minutes per side, flipping every 5 minutes or when the color of the fish starts to turn white. Continue grilling. The moment it flakes easily with a fork, your mahi mahi is ready.
Pan-grilled mahi mahi is very delicious. Put the fillets on a lightly greased grill pan and place the pan 4 to 6 inches above hot coals or fire. Baste with a prepared rub, marinade or plain butter or oil then cover. If you’re cooking a large fillet, you can put the fish with skin side down on a foil. Cook until the fish flakes.
The Top Most Secret
Don’t overcook your fish. Bear in mind that like any fish, mahi mahi comes out best when cooked at high temperatures for shorter times, and for as long as you don’t overcook the fish, it will deliver you one of the most fantastic pan-cooked seafood you can ever have.
